  2. 2. Take the ham out of the fridge to let it reach room temperature.
  3. 3. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
  4. 4. Place the potatoes in a pot with salted water.
  5. 5. Bring the water to a boil.
  6. 6. Cook the potatoes for about 15 minutes over medium heat.
  7. 7. Wash the basil.
  8. 8. Shake the basil dry thoroughly.
  9. 9. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  10. 10. Set the leaves aside.
  11. 11. Discard the basil stems.
  12. 12. Cut a lemon in half.
  13. 13. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
  14. 14. Wash the asparagus.
  15. 15. Remove the woody ends from the asparagus.
  16. 16. Place the asparagus in a baking dish.
  17. 17. Pour 100 milliliters of salted water over the asparagus.
  18. 18. Add the basil stems to the baking dish.
  19. 19. Add the lemon juice to the baking dish.
  20. 20. Add a pinch of pepper to the baking dish.
  21. 21. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  22. 22. Cook the asparagus in the oven for about 20 minutes.
  23. 23. Melt butter in a pot over medium heat.
  24. 24. Stir flour into the melted butter.
  25. 25. Mix the butter and flour well.
  26. 26. Add the milk slowly.
  27. 27. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes over low heat.
  28. 28. Add the chopped basil at the end.
  29. 29. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  30. 30. Drain the potatoes.
  31. 31. Let the potatoes steam in the hot pot for about 1 minute.

  38. 38. Add the ham pieces to the asparagus.
  39. 39. Pour the basil sauce over the dish.
