🍽️ Crispy Asparagus Pastry Pockets with Cream Cheese

Ingredients
- green asparagus 2 bunch
- cream cheese, plain 80 g
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- puff pastry 1 piece
- Black Forest ham 8 slices
- eggs 1 piece
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
- 2. Thoroughly wash the asparagus.
- 3. Peel the bottom three centimeters of the asparagus stalks.
- 4. Cut off the hard, woody ends of the stalks.
- 5. Place the cream cheese into a small bowl.
- 6. Season the cheese with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
- 7. Stir the mixture with a spoon until it is smooth and creamy.
- 8. Take the puff pastry out of the packaging and roll it out flat.
- 9. Cut the dough once in the middle lengthwise.
- 10. Cut the dough three times crosswise to create small rectangles.
- 11. You should now have a total of eight pieces of dough.
- 12. Brush each piece of dough thinly with the cream cheese mixture.
- 13. Place a slice of ham on the cheese.
- 14. Place three to four asparagus stalks in the center on top of the ham.
- 15. Fold the two corners of the dough in the middle over the filling.
- 16. Crack an egg into a small bowl.
- 17. Whisk the egg with a fork until it is uniform.
- 18. Brush the surface of the pastry pockets with the whisked egg.
- 19. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 20. Put the tray into the preheated oven.
- 21. Bake the pastries for about 20 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 22. Take the pastries out of the oven and let them cool down for a moment.
- 23. Serve the asparagus pastry pockets lukewarm.
