  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Thoroughly wash the asparagus.
  3. 3. Peel the bottom three centimeters of the asparagus stalks.
  4. 4. Cut off the hard, woody ends of the stalks.
  5. 5. Place the cream cheese into a small bowl.
  6. 6. Season the cheese with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
  7. 7. Stir the mixture with a spoon until it is smooth and creamy.
  8. 8. Take the puff pastry out of the packaging and roll it out flat.
  9. 9. Cut the dough once in the middle lengthwise.
  10. 10. Cut the dough three times crosswise to create small rectangles.
  11. 11. You should now have a total of eight pieces of dough.
  12. 12. Brush each piece of dough thinly with the cream cheese mixture.
  13. 13. Place a slice of ham on the cheese.
  14. 14. Place three to four asparagus stalks in the center on top of the ham.
  15. 15. Fold the two corners of the dough in the middle over the filling.
  16. 16. Crack an egg into a small bowl.
  17. 17. Whisk the egg with a fork until it is uniform.
  18. 18. Brush the surface of the pastry pockets with the whisked egg.
  19. 19. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  20. 20. Put the tray into the preheated oven.
  21. 21. Bake the pastries for about 20 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
  22. 22. Take the pastries out of the oven and let them cool down for a moment.
