🍝 Classic Spaghetti with Fresh Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- yellow onions 1 pc.
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- basil, fresh 10 g
- oil 2 tbsp
- tomato paste 2 tbsp
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- sugar pinch
- herbs of Provence, dried pinch
- tomatoes, chopped 800 g
- spaghetti 500 g
- parmesan, grated 50 g
Instructions
- 1. Cut the onion in half and remove the outer skin. Dice the onion piece into small cubes.
- 2. Peel the garlic clove and chop it very finely.
- 3. Wash the basil thoroughly under running water. Shake it dry to remove excess water.
- 4. Pluck the basil leaves off the tough stems.
- 5. Chop the basil leaves roughly.
- 6. Fill a pot with about 5 liters of water and add salt. Bring the water to a boil.
- 7. Take a second pot and add the oil. Heat the oil over high heat.
- 8. Add the diced onions and chopped garlic to the hot oil. Sauté the mixture for about 2 minutes.
- 9. Stir the tomato paste into the onion-garlic mixture. Cook it for another 2 minutes.
- 10. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, a pinch of sugar, and herbs de Provence.
- 11. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot and stir everything well.
- 12. Let the sauce simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- 13. Add the spaghetti to the boiling salted water. Cook them for about 9 minutes until al dente (firm to the bite).
- 14. Drain the spaghetti and let them drain well.
- 15. Portion the spaghetti onto plates and pour the warm tomato sauce over them.
- 16. Sprinkle the dish with the chopped basil and grated Parmesan.
