🍰 Sopapillas (fried dough bites)

Ingredients
- butter 50 g
- wheat flour, type 405 300 g
- baking powder 2 tsp
- salt pinch
- water 150 ml
- rapeseed oil 200 ml
- powdered sugar 1 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Cut the butter into small pieces. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the butter and water and use a hand mixer with dough hooks to mix everything into a smooth dough. Let the dough rest, covered, at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- 2. Divide the dough into two parts, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 5 mm thick, and cut into squares (approx. 5 x 5 cm).
- 3. Heat the oil in a pot over high heat until bubbles form when you hold a wooden spoon handle in it. Then fry the dough pieces in batches for about 2 minutes, turning them once or twice.
- 4. Let the sopapillas drain on kitchen paper and dust with powdered sugar to taste. Enjoy!
