🍽️ Danish Smørrebrød with Herring

Ingredients
- Beetroot in a jar, slices 100 g
- Honey 0.5 tsp
- Salt pinch
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Radishes 0.25 bunch
- Chives, fresh 20 g
- Matjes fillets 250 g
- Remoulade 4 tbsp
- Creme fraiche 2 tbsp
- Rye bread 4 slices
- Fried onions 4 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Place the beetroot in a sieve and let it drain well.
- 2. Season the beetroot in a bowl with honey, salt, and pepper to taste.
- 3. Wash the radishes thoroughly and trim off the ends.
- 4. Cut the radishes into small batons.
- 5. Wash the chives and shake them dry.
- 6. Slice the chives into fine rings.
- 7. Rinse the matjes (sweet and sour herring) under cold water.
- 8. Pat the matjes dry with a kitchen towel.
- 9. Cut the matjes into narrow strips.
- 10. Mix the remoulade (spicy mayonnaise sauce) with the crème fraîche in a bowl.
- 11. Spread the remoulade cream evenly over the bread slices.
- 12. Top the bread slices as desired with the beetroot, radishes, and matjes.
- 13. Garnish the smørrebrød with fried onions and chives.
- 14. Plate the rolls and enjoy.
