  7. 7. Wash the apple thoroughly.
  8. 8. Cut the apple into four quarters.
  9. 9. Remove the core and seeds from the apple quarters.
  10. 10. Slice the apple flesh into thin slices.
  11. 11. Spread the rye bread evenly with remoulade.
  12. 12. Place the herring fillets on the bread.
  13. 13. Distribute the onion rings over the herring.
  14. 14. Add the apple slices as a topping.
  15. 15. Sprinkle the chive rolls on top for garnish.
  16. 16. Serve the finished smørrebrød on a plate.
