🍽️ Bread Dumpling Roll with Bacon and Chives

Ingredients
- Day-old rolls 5 pcs.
- Milk 300 ml
- Onions, yellow 2 pcs.
- Chives, fresh 20 g
- Butter 2 tbsp
- Bacon strips 100 g
- Eggs 3 pcs.
- Salt pinch
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Nutmeg, ground pinch
- Allspice pinch
- Breadcrumbs 5 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Cut the bread rolls into small cubes and place them in a bowl.
- 2. Warm the milk in a pot.
- 3. Pour the warm milk over the bread cubes.
- 4. Let the mixture cool down until it reaches room temperature.
- 5. Halve the onions and peel them.
- 6. Dice the onions finely.
- 7. Wash the chives thoroughly.
- 8. Dry the chives.
- 9. Finely chop the chives.
- 10. Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium to high heat.
- 11. Fry the bacon for about three minutes until it becomes translucent.
- 12. Let the bacon cool down.
- 13. Mix the soaked bread with the onions.
- 14. Add the cooled bacon to the mixture.
- 15. Add the chopped chives.
- 16. Add the eggs to the mixture.
- 17. Mix everything gently to keep the mixture loose.
- 18. Season the mixture with salt.
- 19. Season the mixture with pepper.
- 20. Season the mixture with grated nutmeg.
- 21. Season the mixture with allspice.
- 22. If necessary, add breadcrumbs until the mixture is moldable.
- 23. Lay out a large piece of cling film on your work surface.
- 24. Spread the dumpling mixture evenly along the bottom long edge of the film.
- 25. Roll the film up carefully like a candy roll.
- 26. Place the roll onto a long strip of aluminum foil.
- 27. Roll the roll again in the aluminum foil.
- 28. Twist the ends tightly to form a firm roll.
- 29. Bring about three liters of salted water to a boil in a pot.
- 30. Reduce the heat to medium.
- 31. Let the dumpling rolls cook covered for about 30 minutes.
- 32. Make sure the water is not boiling vigorously.
- 33. Gently turn the dumplings after about 25 minutes.
- 34. Remove the dumpling rolls from the hot water.
- 35. Cut open the ends of the roll.
- 36. Remove the foil.
- 37. Slice the roll into slices of the desired thickness.
- 38. Serve the dumplings hot.
- 39. Fry the cut surfaces of the dumplings in a little butter until golden brown after slicing.
