  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Take some soft butter and put it into a large bowl.
  3. 3. Add sugar, a pinch of salt, and the flour to the butter.
  4. 4. Mix all ingredients well until a homogeneous dough forms.
  5. 5. Place the dough in the refrigerator for about one hour to let it firm up.
  6. 6. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  7. 7. Roll out the dough on the baking paper into a rectangle measuring 15 by 28 centimeters.
  8. 8. Make sure the dough is about 1 centimeter thick.
  9. 9. Prick the surface of the dough evenly with a fork.
  10. 10. Put the tray into the preheated oven.
  11. 11. Bake the shortbread for a total of 25 minutes.
  12. 12. Cover the pastry with aluminum foil after 15 minutes so it does not become too dark.
  13. 13. Take the shortbread out of the oven when the time is up.
  14. 14. Cut the pastry into strips while it is still warm.
  15. 15. Let the strips cool down completely.
