  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Use top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Melt the butter in a pot over low heat.
  3. 3. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.
  4. 4. Let half of the chocolate pieces melt in the melted butter.
  5. 5. Beat the egg in a separate bowl using a hand mixer.
  6. 6. Pour the chocolate-butter mixture into the egg.
  7. 7. Add baking powder, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt to the egg mixture.
  8. 8. Peel the ginger.
  9. 9. Grate the ginger finely.
  10. 10. Mix the grated ginger into the dough.
  11. 11. Mix the remaining chocolate pieces into the dough.
  12. 12. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap.
  13. 13. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  14. 14. Cut the dough into finger-width slices.
  15. 15. Place the dough pieces on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  16. 16. Bake the cookies in the oven for approx. 12 minutes.
  17. 17. Serve the chocolate ginger cookies hot or cooled.
