  3. 3. Halve the bell pepper, remove the core and seeds, and slice the flesh into strips.
  4. 4. Cut the sausages into bite-sized pieces, roughly thumb-width thick.
  5. 5. Grate the fine zest of the lemon, avoiding the white pith.
  6. 6. Cut the chives into fine rings.
  7. 7. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a medium-sized pot.
  8. 8. Add the onions, garlic, and bell pepper strips to the pot.
  9. 9. Season with salt and fry the mixture vigorously for three minutes.
  10. 10. Add the sausages, paprika powder, and sugar.
  11. 11. Fry everything briefly until well combined.
  12. 12. Deglaze the mixture with beef broth.
  13. 13. Add the chopped tomatoes and half of the lemon zest to the sauce.
  14. 14. Cover the pot and let the goulash simmer for twenty minutes over medium heat.
  15. 15. Meanwhile, heat a large frying pan with the remaining oil.
  16. 16. Fry the potato dumplings in the pan until golden brown on all sides.
  17. 17. Stir half of the sour cream into the finished sauce.
  18. 18. Finally, adjust the seasoning of the sauce to taste.
  19. 19. Serve the goulash on plates alongside the fried potato dumplings.
  20. 20. Drizzle the remaining sour cream on top as a garnish.
