  1. 1. Bring about 5 liters of salted water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. 2. Peel the onions and garlic and dice them finely.
  3. 3. Wipe the mushrooms clean with a kitchen towel.
  4. 4. Cut the mushrooms into quarters or eighths depending on their size.
  5. 5. Wash the tomatoes and quarter them.
  6. 6. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in another pot over high heat.
  7. 7. Sear the ground meat vigorously for about 3 minutes.
  8. 8. Add the diced onions and the mushrooms.
  9. 9. Sauté the vegetables over medium to high heat for about 3 minutes.
  10. 10. Add the garlic.
  11. 11. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  12. 12. Mix broth and deglaze the meat with it.
  13. 13. Let the sauce simmer uncovered on medium heat for about 8 minutes.
  14. 14. Stir the sauce occasionally.
  15. 15. Cook the Penne Rigate pasta in the boiling salted water for about 10 minutes until al dente.

  17. 17. Stir 1 tablespoon of olive oil into the pasta.

  20. 20. Shake the chives dry.

  23. 23. Warm the tomatoes briefly in the sauce.
  24. 24. Finely grate the Parmesan.
  25. 25. Add the sauce to the pasta in a large bowl or the pot.
  26. 26. Mix the sauce thoroughly into the pasta.
  27. 27. Adjust the seasoning of the pasta if necessary.
