Instructions

  1. 1. Fry the bacon strips in a pan over medium-high heat without extra fat until crispy. This takes about 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. 2. Remove the cooked bacon from the pan and place it on a plate.
  3. 3. Leave the pan with the cooking juices and residue (fond) unwashed.
  4. 4. Bring about 5 liters of salted water to a boil in a large pot.
  5. 5. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook for about 9 minutes until al dente (firm to the bite).
  6. 6. Thoroughly wash the basil, rosemary, and thyme and shake them dry.
  7. 7. Pluck the leaves from the rosemary and thyme and chop them finely.
  8. 8. Take the basil leaves and tear them roughly with your hands.
  9. 9. Add the butter and the chopped herbs (except the basil) to the warm pan with the cooking juices.
  10. 10. Melt the butter over medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes until it turns golden yellow.
  11. 11. Drain the spaghetti in a colander.
  12. 12. Add the still dripping wet pasta directly to the pan with the herb butter.
  13. 13. Toss the pasta well with the butter, bacon, and torn basil.
  14. 14. Season the pasta to taste with salt and pepper.
  15. 15. Plate the spaghetti.
  16. 16. Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and serve the dish.
