🍽️ Crispy Brussels Sprout and Potato Casserole

Ingredients
- Salt pinch
- Potatoes, floury 750 g
- Brussels sprouts, fresh 750 g
- Gouda, grated 200 g
- Eggs 2 pcs.
- Milk 100 ml
- Whipping cream 100 ml
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Bacon strips 200 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 2. Fill a large pot with 3 to 4 liters of water and add salt.
- 3. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 4. Peel the potatoes if you wish.
- 5. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
- 6. Wash the Brussels sprouts thoroughly as well.
- 7. Remove any wilted outer leaves from the Brussels sprouts.
- 8. Score the stems (the hard bottom part) of the Brussels sprouts in a cross pattern with a small knife.
- 9. Bring the salted water in the pot to a boil.
- 10. Add the potato slices to the boiling water.
- 11. Parboil the potatoes for about 10 minutes.
- 12. Add the Brussels sprouts to the pot after 6 minutes.
- 13. Cook the Brussels sprouts for another 4 minutes.
- 14. Drain the vegetables in a colander.
- 15. Let the vegetables drain for a short moment.
- 16. Take a bowl and add the Gouda cheese.
- 17. Add the eggs to the bowl.
- 18. Pour the milk into the bowl.
- 19. Add the cream to the bowl.
- 20. Mix everything well with a whisk.
- 21. Add 2 to 3 pinches of salt.
- 22. Add 2 to 3 pinches of pepper.
- 23. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- 24. Take a baking dish.
- 25. Distribute the potatoes evenly in the dish.
- 26. Distribute the Brussels sprouts evenly in the dish.
- 27. Distribute the bacon evenly in the dish.
- 28. Pour the cheese-cream mixture over the vegetables.
- 29. Place the baking dish in the oven.
- 30. Bake the casserole for 20 to 25 minutes.
- 31. Make sure the casserole turns golden brown.
- 32. Cover the casserole with aluminum foil if the surface becomes too dark.
- 33. Take the finished casserole out of the oven.
- 34. Let the casserole cool down for a short moment.
- 35. Serve the casserole on plates.
- 36. Serve the casserole and enjoy your meal.
