  1. 1. Halve the onions and remove the outer skin.
  2. 2. Cut the onions into thin strips.
  3. 3. Rinse the goulash meat under running water.
  4. 4. Pat the meat dry with kitchen paper.
  5. 5. Heat the oil in a pot over high heat.
  6. 6. Fry the meat in it for about 3 minutes until well browned.
  7. 7. Add the chopped onions and tomato paste to the pot.
  8. 8. Cook the mixture for about 2 minutes longer.
  9. 9. Season with salt, pepper, paprika powder, oregano, and sugar.
  10. 10. Pour in the tomatoes along with their liquid and the broth.
  11. 11. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  12. 12. Let the dish simmer covered for about 30 minutes.
  13. 13. Rinse the peppers under running water.
  14. 14. Quarter the peppers and remove the stems and seeds.
  15. 15. Dice the pepper pieces roughly.
  16. 16. Add the pepper pieces and the rice to the meat.
  17. 17. Simmer everything for another 25 to 30 minutes.
  18. 18. Add a little hot water if necessary, as the liquid may evaporate too quickly.
  19. 19. Finally, adjust the seasoning of the rice meat.
  20. 20. Serve the dish with a spoonful of crème fraîche.
