🍽️ Turkey Gyros with Fried Potatoes and Tzatziki

Ingredients
- potatoes, mainly waxy 1 kg
- olive oil 3 tbsp
- salt pinch
- shallots 1 pc.
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- organic limes 1 pc.
- cucumbers 1 pc.
- parsley, fresh 15 g
- turkey breast fillet 600 g
- oil 3 tbsp
- yogurt, plain 200 g
- pepper, black ground pinch
- feta cheese 250 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 3. Slice the potatoes into rounds about 1 cm thick.
- 4. Place the potato slices on a baking sheet.
- 5. Drizzle the potatoes with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- 6. Season the potatoes with 1 to 2 pinches of salt.
- 7. Bake the potatoes for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
- 8. Halve the shallot and peel it.
- 9. Cut the shallot into thin strips.
- 10. Peel the garlic.
- 11. Finely chop the garlic.
- 12. Halve the lime.
- 13. Squeeze the juice from the lime.
- 14. Peel the cucumber.
- 15. Cut off the ends of the cucumber.
- 16. Coarsely grate one-third of the cucumber into a bowl.
- 17. Quarter the remaining part of the cucumber lengthwise.
- 18. Remove the seeds from the cucumber quarters.
- 19. Cut the deseeded cucumber pieces into cubes about 1 cm in size.
- 20. Wash the parsley.
- 21. Pat the parsley dry with kitchen paper.
- 22. Pick the parsley leaves off the stems.
- 23. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
- 24. Rinse the turkey fillets.
- 25. Pat the turkey fillets dry with kitchen paper.
- 26. Cut the turkey fillets into strips about 1 cm wide.
- 27. Place the turkey strips in a bowl.
- 28. Add the chopped shallots and half of the garlic to the turkey strips.
- 29. Season the turkey strips with salt.
- 30. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the turkey strips.
- 31. Mix everything well together.
- 32. Set the bowl aside to let the turkey strips marinate.
- 33. Place the grated cucumber in a separate bowl.
- 34. Add the yogurt to the grated cucumber.
- 35. Add 1 tablespoon of lime juice to the cucumber-yogurt mixture.
- 36. Mix the ingredients for the sauce well.
- 37. Season the sauce with salt.
- 38. Season the sauce with pepper.
- 39. Add the remaining garlic to the sauce.
- 40. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.
- 41. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
- 42. Fry the marinated turkey gyros vigorously for about 2 minutes.
- 43. Reduce the heat.
- 44. Place the lid on the pan.
- 45. Cook the turkey gyros for another 3 to 4 minutes.
- 46. Take the potatoes out of the oven.
- 47. Combine the fried potatoes with the cucumber-yogurt mixture.
- 48. Crumble feta cheese over the potatoes as desired.
- 49. Plate the turkey gyros, fried potatoes, and tzatziki sauce.
- 50. Serve the dish.
