  1. 1. Mix the yeast with the sugar and the water.
  2. 2. Add the flour, the salt, and the olive oil.
  3. 3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth.
  4. 4. Shape the dough into a ball.
  5. 5. Brush the ball lightly with a little olive oil.
  6. 6. Let the ball rise covered for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  7. 7. Melt the butter in a pot.
  8. 8. Press the garlic clove into the melted butter.
  9. 9. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
  10. 10. Stir the herbs into the butter.
  11. 11. Set the butter mixture aside.
  12. 12. Divide the dough into 32 equal portions.
  13. 13. Shape each portion into a small ball.
  14. 14. Open each ball slightly with your fingers.
  15. 15. Place a piece of mini mozzarella into the opening.
  16. 16. Close the dough around the cheese.
  17. 17. Reshape the ball firmly.
  18. 18. Roll the ball in the prepared butter.
  19. 19. Place the balls in the shape of a fir tree on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  20. 20. Place the tray in the cold oven.
  21. 21. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius top and bottom heat.
  22. 22. Bake the tree for about 35 to 40 minutes until it is golden brown.
  23. 23. Serve the tree best while still warm.
