  1. 1. Wash the plums thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Halve the plums and remove the pits.
  3. 3. Place the plum pieces in a large bowl.
  4. 4. Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, rum, and cinnamon.
  5. 5. Mix all ingredients well until evenly distributed.
  6. 6. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator overnight.
  7. 7. Take the plums out of the refrigerator the next day.
  8. 8. Place the plums together with the marinade into a cooking pot.
  9. 9. Heat the mixture on medium heat until it comes to a boil.
  10. 10. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
  11. 11. Let the butter simmer gently for about two hours.
  12. 12. Fill the hot plum butter into four clean screw-top jars.
  13. 13. Use jars with a capacity of 250 milliliters each.
  14. 14. Seal the jars tightly with the lids.
  15. 15. Place the sealed jars upside down on their lids.
  16. 16. Allow the jars to cool completely in this position.
