🍰 Vanilla Panettone Casserole

Ingredients
- butter 1 tbsp
- brown sugar 1 tbsp
- panettone alla stracciatella 800 g
- vanilla pod 1 pc
- eggs 6 pcs
- orange peel, grated 0.5 tsp
- whipping cream 300 ml
- milk 300 ml
- salt pinch
- powdered sugar 1 tbsp
- vanilla ice cream 4 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 2. Grease a baking dish with one tablespoon of soft butter.
- 3. Add one tablespoon of raw cane sugar to the dish.
- 4. Swirl the dish to distribute the sugar evenly.
- 5. Tear the panettone into coarse pieces using your hands.
- 6. Ensure the pieces are about two to three centimeters in size.
- 7. Distribute the panettone pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- 8. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise.
- 9. Scrape the vanilla seeds out of the pod with a knife.
- 10. Separate five eggs and reserve the egg whites for another use.
- 11. Place the egg yolks, one whole egg, the vanilla seeds, the orange zest, the cream, the milk, and a pinch of salt into a bowl.
- 12. Whisk the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly.
- 13. Pour the vanilla milk mixture carefully over the panettone pieces.
- 14. Stir gently to allow the panettone pieces to absorb the liquid.
- 15. Place the baking dish in the oven.
- 16. Bake the casserole for about 45 to 55 minutes.
- 17. Remove the casserole from the oven when it is golden brown on top.
- 18. Let the casserole cool down briefly in the oven or on the stove.
- 19. Dust the finished casserole with powdered sugar.
- 20. Serve the casserole warm with vanilla ice cream.
