  1. 1. Rinse the lemon and orange under hot water.
  2. 2. Peel a thin strip of zest from both fruits using a vegetable peeler.
  3. 3. Cut the fruits in half and squeeze out the juice.
  4. 4. Pour the lemon juice into a pot.
  5. 5. Add water if necessary until you have exactly 20 ml of lemon juice.
  6. 6. Add sugar and stir.
  7. 7. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring.
  8. 8. Continue boiling until the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup looks clear.
  9. 9. Let the syrup cool down.
  10. 10. Place the syrup in the refrigerator.
  11. 11. Pour 30 ml of the cooled sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker.
  12. 12. Add gin and orange juice.
  13. 13. Add ice cubes to the shaker.
  14. 14. Shake the mixture vigorously.
  15. 15. Strain the contents into a long drink glass.
  16. 16. Top up the drink with chilled mineral water.
  17. 17. Garnish the cocktail with the lemon and orange peels you set aside earlier.
  18. 18. Enjoy the drink immediately.
