  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan.
  2. 2. Wash the pears thoroughly.
  3. 3. Cut the pears into quarters.
  4. 4. Remove the hard core and seeds from the pear pieces.
  5. 5. Cut the cored pears into thin wedges.
  6. 6. Slice the brioche bread into thick slices.
  7. 7. Brush the brioche slices with butter.
  8. 8. Sprinkle the buttered slices with lingonberries.
  9. 9. Grease a baking dish with some fat.
  10. 10. Place a layer of the brioche slices into the dish.
  11. 11. Spread a layer of the pear wedges over the bread.
  12. 12. Repeat the layering until all ingredients are used up.
  13. 13. Pour the milk into a large bowl.
  14. 14. Add the cream to the milk.
  15. 15. Whisk the eggs into the milk and cream mixture.
  16. 16. Add the sugar to the mixture.
  17. 17. Add the vanilla sugar to the mixture.
  18. 18. Stir all liquid ingredients well together.
  19. 19. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole.
  20. 20. Let the bread absorb the liquid well.
  21. 21. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
  22. 22. Bake the casserole for about 40 minutes.
  23. 23. Remove the casserole from the oven.
  24. 24. Serve the casserole hot.
