  1. 1. Slightly warm the milk in a pot.
  2. 2. Crumble the yeast into a bowl.
  3. 3. Dissolve the yeast with one tablespoon of sugar in the lukewarm milk.
  4. 4. Let the yeast milk rest covered for about 15 minutes.
  5. 5. Mix 140 grams of sugar, flour, salt, and diced butter in a separate bowl.
  6. 6. Pour the yeast milk and the eggs into the butter-flour mixture.
  7. 7. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  8. 8. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel.
  9. 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it has nearly doubled in size.
  10. 10. Coarsely chop the hazelnuts.
  11. 11. Mix almonds, 2 tablespoons of sugar, sour cream, and whiskey in a bowl.
  12. 12. Store the almond filling in the refrigerator.
  13. 13. Divide the dough into two halves.
  14. 14. Dust a work surface with flour.
  15. 15. Roll each dough portion into a rectangle of approx. 40 x 20 cm.
  16. 16. Spread half of the almond filling onto each rectangle.
  17. 17. Leave about 3 cm of dough edge free on one long side.
  18. 18. Sprinkle the dough with the chopped nuts, reserving 1–2 tablespoons for garnishing.
  19. 19. Roll the dough from the opposite long side.
  20. 20. Press the edges of the roll firmly.
  21. 21. Grease a springform pan with a ring insert (28 cm diameter).
  22. 22. Place the dough rolls into the pan.
  23. 23. Twist the rolls two to three times in the pan.
  24. 24. Press the ends of the rolls together well.
  25. 25. Preheat the oven to 175 °C top/bottom heat.
  26. 26. Let the ring rise for another 10 minutes.
  27. 27. Bake the ring for about 30–35 minutes.
  28. 28. Remove the ring from the oven.
  29. 29. Let the ring cool down.

  31. 31. Mix powdered sugar with a little water to create a thick glaze.
  32. 32. Drizzle the cooled ring with the glaze.
  33. 33. Sprinkle the ring with the reserved chopped nuts.
