🍰 Crunchy Nut and Orange Rings

Ingredients
- butter 125 g
- Sugar 50 g
- Honey 50 g
- Salt Pinch
- Hazelnut kernels, ground 100 g
- Wheat flour, Type 405 180 g
- Baking powder 1 tsp
- Walnut kernels 2 tbsp
- Oranges 1 pc
- Powdered sugar 150 g
Instructions
- 1. Cut the butter into small cubes.
- 2. Place the butter cubes, sugar, honey, salt, hazelnuts, flour, and baking powder into a bowl.
- 3. Work the ingredients into a smooth shortcrust dough.
- 4. If the dough is too dry, add one tablespoon of cold water.
- 5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about two hours.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 7. Lightly flour your work surface.
- 8. Divide the dough into portions and shape them into rolls about one centimeter thick.
- 9. Cut the rolls into pieces.
- 10. Shape each piece into a strand about six centimeters long.
- 11. Form a ring from each strand and press the ends together firmly.
- 12. Place the rings on baking sheets lined with baking paper.
- 13. Bake the rings for about twelve minutes until golden brown.
- 14. Roughly chop the walnuts while the rings are baking.
- 15. Wash the orange thoroughly.
- 16. Grate about one teaspoon of fine orange zest.
- 17. Halve the orange and squeeze out the juice.
- 18. Mix the chopped walnuts with the orange zest in a bowl.
- 19. Gradually whisk powdered sugar with orange juice in a separate bowl.
- 20. Adjust the consistency so that the glaze is not too runny.
- 21. Brush the cooled rings with the glaze.
- 22. Sprinkle the walnut and orange mixture over them.
- 23. Enjoy your meal!
