  1. 1. Put the butter and milk into a pot.
  2. 2. Warm the mixture until the butter is completely melted.
  3. 3. Let the liquid cool down slightly until it is lukewarm.
  4. 4. Stir 1 tablespoon of sugar and the crumbled yeast into the milk.
  5. 5. Cover the pot and let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.
  6. 6. Put the remaining sugar, salt, vanilla sugar, egg, and flour into a large bowl.
  7. 7. Pour the yeast-milk mixture over the dry ingredients.
  8. 8. Knead everything well until a smooth dough forms.
  9. 9. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  10. 10. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius fan (convection).
  11. 11. Sprinkle some flour onto a work surface.
  12. 12. Divide the dough into 10 to 12 equal pieces.
  13. 13. Shape the dough pieces into round rolls or crescents.
  14. 14. Avoid kneading them too much.
  15. 15. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  16. 16. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 10 minutes.
  17. 17. Brush the tops of the rolls with a little milk.
  18. 18. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  19. 19. Take the rolls out of the oven and let them cool.
