  1. 1. Take the ham and mozzarella out of the fridge to let them reach room temperature.
  2. 2. Remove the seeds from the melon half using a spoon.
  3. 3. Peel the melon.
  4. 4. Form small balls from the melon using a melon baller.
  5. 5. Alternatively, cut the melon into approx. 1 cm cubes.
  6. 6. Wash the basil.
  7. 7. Shake the basil dry.
  8. 8. Set aside some nice basil tips for decoration.
  9. 9. Pluck the remaining basil leaves.
  10. 10. Chop the remaining basil leaves finely.
  11. 11. Mix balsamic vinegar, honey, and the chopped basil in a bowl.
  12. 12. Drizzle in olive oil while stirring.
  13. 13. Season the dressing with salt and pepper.
  14. 14. Add the melon to the dressing.
  15. 15. Set the bowl aside to let the melon absorb the flavors.
  16. 16. Tear the mozzarella into small pieces with your hands.
  17. 17. Distribute the mozzarella onto four glasses.
  18. 18. Season the mozzarella lightly with salt and pepper.
  19. 19. Place the marinated melon on top of the cheese.
  20. 20. Place the ham on top of the melon.
  21. 21. Garnish the dish with the reserved basil tips.
  22. 22. Serve the melon caprese.
