  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Soak the dry bread roll in warm water.
  3. 3. Halve and peel the onions.
  4. 4. Dice the onions finely.
  5. 5. Peel the garlic.
  6. 6. Finely chop the garlic.
  7. 7. Wash the chili peppers.
  8. 8. Halve the chili peppers.
  9. 9. Remove the seeds from the chili peppers.
  10. 10. Dice the chili peppers finely.
  11. 11. Wash the rosemary.
  12. 12. Shake the rosemary dry.
  13. 13. Strip the rosemary needles from the stems.
  14. 14. Finely chop the rosemary.
  15. 15. Squeeze the soaked bread roll well.
  16. 16. Pour off the water from the bread roll.
  17. 17. Place the minced meat in a bowl.
  18. 18. Add half of the onion dice to the bowl.
  19. 19. Add the chopped rosemary to the bowl.
  20. 20. Add the egg to the bowl.
  21. 21. Add the squeezed bread roll to the bowl.
  22. 22. Season the mixture with salt.
  23. 23. Season the mixture with pepper.
  24. 24. Mix all ingredients in the bowl.
  25. 25. Check if the meat mixture is too soft.
  26. 26. If necessary, add some breadcrumbs.
  27. 27. Form 12 balls from the meat mixture.
  28. 28. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat.
  29. 29. Fry the meatballs for approx. 5 minutes on all sides.
  30. 30. Place the fried meatballs in a baking dish.
  31. 31. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the same pan over medium heat.
  32. 32. Fry the remaining onions for approx. 3 minutes.
  33. 33. Add the garlic to the pan.
  34. 34. Add the chili peppers to the pan.
  35. 35. Fry the vegetables for approx. 3 minutes.
  36. 36. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan.
  37. 37. Bring the tomato sauce to a boil.
  38. 38. Season the sauce with salt.
  39. 39. Season the sauce with pepper.
  40. 40. Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs.
  41. 41. Drain the mozzarella.
  42. 42. Slice the mozzarella.
  43. 43. Place a slice of mozzarella on each meatball.
  44. 44. Bake the meatballs in the oven for approx. 20 minutes.
  45. 45. Wash the basil.
  46. 46. Shake the basil dry.
  47. 47. Pluck the basil leaves.
  48. 48. Cut the basil leaves into strips.
  49. 49. Take the meatballs out of the oven.
  50. 50. Garnish the meatballs with the basil.
  51. 51. Serve the meatballs in tomato sauce.
