🍽️ Hearty Beef Goulash Pie

Ingredients
- Soup vegetables 1 bunch
- Onions, red 2 pcs.
- Potatoes, waxy 1 pc.
- Beef goulash 600 g
- Salt pinch
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Bay leaves, dried 1 pc.
- Juniper berries 2 pcs.
- Wheat flour, Type 405 2 tbsp
- Red wine, dry 200 ml
- Beef broth 500 ml
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Puff pastry 2 pcs.
- Eggs 1 pc.
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Peel the soup vegetables if necessary and wash them thoroughly.
- 3. Cut the soup vegetables into coarse cubes.
- 4. Wash the parsley and dry it well.
- 5. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems and chop them finely.
- 6. Halve the onions and peel them.
- 7. Cut the onions into cubes.
- 8. Peel the potato and cut it into cubes.
- 9. Rinse the goulash and pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
- 10. Season the meat generously with salt.
- 11. Heat oil in a large pot.
- 12. Fry the meat in portions for about 5 minutes.
- 13. Remove the fried meat from the pot and set it aside.
- 14. Sauté the onions, potato, soup vegetables, bay leaf, and juniper berries with the last portion of meat for 3 minutes.
- 15. Return all the meat to the pot.
- 16. Dust the meat with flour.
- 17. Cook the flour for approx. 1 minute while stirring.
- 18. Deglaze the mixture with red wine.
- 19. Pour in the broth.
- 20. Add the chopped parsley and pepper.
- 21. Let the sauce simmer for approx. 30 minutes.
- 22. Roll out the puff pastry.
- 23. Save the tomato sauce for another use.
- 24. Grease a tart pan.
- 25. Line the pan with one sheet of puff pastry.
- 26. Fill the beef goulash into the pan.
- 27. Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the pan and the goulash.
- 28. Press the edges firmly together.
- 29. Trim off excess puff pastry at the edges.
- 30. Make a small slit in the center of the puff pastry lid.
- 31. Whisk an egg in a bowl.
- 32. Brush the meat pie with the egg.
- 33. Bake the pie in the oven for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
- 34. Let the meat pie cool down slightly.
- 35. Serve the pie and enjoy!
