🍽️ Crispy Maultaschen Gratin with Spinach

Ingredients
- baby spinach 300 g
- onions, yellow 1 pc.
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- oil 4 tbsp
- maultaschen, cut 800 g
- vegetable broth 400 ml
- whipping cream 200 ml
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- Gouda, grated 200 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Wash the spinach thoroughly and let it drain well.
- 3. Halve the onions, peel them, and cut them into fine cubes.
- 4. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them finely.
- 5. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan over high heat.
- 6. Fry the Maultaschen (German ravioli) in batches for about four minutes until golden brown.
- 7. Place the fried Maultaschen into a baking dish.
- 8. Heat another two tablespoons of oil in the same pan.
- 9. Sauté the onions and garlic for about two minutes.
- 10. Add the drained spinach and let it wilt for about one minute.
- 11. Deglaze the mixture with vegetable broth and cream.
- 12. Bring the sauce to a boil.
- 13. Season the sauce generously with salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg.
- 14. Pour the hot sauce evenly over the Maultaschen in the baking dish.
- 15. Spread the cheese evenly over the top of the gratin.
- 16. Place the baking dish into the preheated oven.
- 17. Bake the gratin for about 25 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
- 18. Carefully remove the dish from the oven.
- 19. Serve the gratin hot and enjoy.
