🍽️ Matjes Housewife Style with Boiled Potatoes

Ingredients
- potatoes, firm-cooking 1 kg
- salt pinch
- matjes fillets 500 g
- apples, green 1 pc.
- onions, red 1 pc.
- pickles 4 pc.
- dill, fresh 20 g
- lemons 1 pc.
- yogurt, plain 150 g
- crème fraîche 200 g
- whipping cream 200 ml
- mustard 1 tsp
- pepper, black ground pinch
- sugar pinch
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 2. Place them in a pot with salted water.
- 3. Bring the water to a boil.
- 4. Reduce the heat to medium.
- 5. Cook the potatoes covered for about 20 to 25 minutes.
- 6. Drain the boiled potatoes in a colander.
- 7. Cut the matjes fillets into small pieces.
- 8. Wash the apple.
- 9. Cut the apple into quarters.
- 10. Remove the core.
- 11. Dice the apple.
- 12. Halve the onion.
- 13. Peel the onion.
- 14. Slice the onion into rings.
- 15. Dice the gherkins finely.
- 16. Wash the dill.
- 17. Dry the dill.
- 18. Remove the coarse stems from the dill.
- 19. Chop the dill finely.
- 20. Wash the lemon.
- 21. Halve the lemon.
- 22. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
- 23. Take a large bowl.
- 24. Add yogurt, crème fraîche, and cream to the bowl.
- 25. Add two tablespoons of gherkin water.
- 26. Add mustard, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- 27. Mix the ingredients well.
- 28. Add the matjes fillets to the sauce.
- 29. Add the diced apple.
- 30. Add the onion rings.
- 31. Add the diced gherkins.
- 32. Mix everything well together.
- 33. Taste the cream herring mixture.
- 34. Plate the cream herring.
- 35. Serve it together with the boiled potatoes.
- 36. Garnish with some lemon juice and dill.
