  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Grease a loaf pan with oil and dust it lightly with flour.
  3. 3. Separate the eggs by dividing the yolks from the whites.
  4. 4. Place the egg whites into the mixing container of your appliance.
  5. 5. Whip the egg whites for 3 minutes on speed level 4 until stiff.
  6. 6. Transfer the whipped egg whites into a separate bowl and set aside.
  7. 7. Add the soft butter, ground almonds, egg yolks, a pinch of salt, quark (a type of fresh cheese), vanilla sugar, and baking powder to the mixing container.
  8. 8. Mix the ingredients for 30 seconds on speed level 2.
  9. 9. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
  10. 10. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  11. 11. Add the cocoa powder to the remaining half of the batter and mix it well.
  12. 12. Pour the chocolate batter on top of the light batter in the pan.
  13. 13. Drag a wooden skewer through the batter several times to create a marble pattern.
  14. 14. Bake the cake in the oven for about 45 minutes.
  15. 15. Allow the cake to cool down slightly in the oven or on a rack.
  16. 16. Serve the cake warm or cold.
