  3. 3. Pour the boiling water over the tomatoes in a bowl.
  4. 4. Let the tomatoes sit in the hot water for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. 5. Drain the hot water and rinse the tomatoes with cold water.
  6. 6. Peel the skin off the tomatoes.
  7. 7. Remove the hard stem from the top of the tomato.
  8. 8. Cut the tomatoes into quarters.
  9. 9. Roughly crush the tomato pieces with your hands or a spoon.
  10. 10. Toast the bread slices in the toaster until golden brown.
  11. 11. Wash the thyme thoroughly under running water.
  12. 12. Shake the thyme dry.
  13. 13. Pluck the thyme leaves off the stems.
  14. 14. Peel the garlic clove.
  15. 15. Cut the garlic clove in half.
  16. 16. Rub the toasted bread slices vigorously with the cut side of the garlic.
  17. 17. Distribute the crushed tomatoes evenly over the bread slices.
  18. 18. Sprinkle the thyme leaves over the bread.
  19. 19. Season everything with salt and pepper.
  20. 20. Drizzle some olive oil over the topped bread slices.
  21. 21. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
  22. 22. Serve the crispy tomato bread immediately.
