🍽️ Homemade Garlic Bread Buns

Ingredients
- dry yeast 1 packet
- water 300 ml
- sugar 1 tsp
- wheat flour, Type 405 500 g
- salt 0.5 tsp
- olive oil 2 tbsp
- garlic cloves 3 pcs
- thyme, fresh 5 g
- organic lemons 1 pc
- butter 100 g
Instructions
- 1. Dissolve 1 packet of dry yeast in 300 milliliters of lukewarm water.
- 2. Stir 1 teaspoon of sugar into the yeast-water mixture.
- 3. Let the mixture stand covered for about 10 minutes.
- 4. Add 500 grams of flour, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the yeast mixture.
- 5. Knead the ingredients by hand into a smooth dough.
- 6. Cover the dough and place it in a warm spot.
- 7. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
- 8. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them very finely.
- 9. Wash the thyme and shake it dry.
- 10. Strip the thyme leaves from the stems and chop them coarsely.
- 11. Wash the lemon under hot water.
- 12. Grate about 1 teaspoon of lemon zest finely.
- 13. Halve the lemon and squeeze out the juice.
- 14. Mix soft butter with the chopped garlic.
- 15. Stir in the lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and the thyme into the butter.
- 16. Spread the garlic butter into a large baking dish.
- 17. Work the dough briefly on a floured surface.
- 18. Shape the dough into 30 small balls.
- 19. Place the dough balls side by side in the prepared dish.
- 20. Brush the balls with the remaining garlic butter.
- 21. Sprinkle some salt over the balls.
- 22. Let the balls rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 23. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 24. Bake the bread for about 30 minutes until golden yellow.
- 25. Remove the bread from the oven and serve it lukewarm or cold.
