🍰 Classic Yeast Braid

Ingredients
- Milk 160 ml
- Yeast, fresh 0.5 pcs
- Sugar 200 g
- Wheat flour, Type 405 500 g
- Salt Pinch
- butter 125 g
- Eggs 2 pcs
Instructions
- 1. Warm 150 milliliters of milk in a pot until it is lukewarm.
- 2. Crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk.
- 3. Stir 1 tablespoon of sugar into the milk-yeast mixture.
- 4. Cover the pot and let the mixture rest for 15 minutes.
- 5. Add 190 grams of sugar, flour, a pinch of salt, and cubed butter to a large bowl.
- 6. Pour the yeast milk and the eggs over the dry ingredients.
- 7. Knead the ingredients into a smooth, uniform dough.
- 8. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel.
- 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
- 10. Divide the finished dough into 3 equal parts.
- 11. Roll each part into a strand about 30 centimeters long.
- 12. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 13. Braid the three strands on the tray into a loaf by alternating them over each other.
- 14. Gently press the ends of the strands together to secure the braid.
- 15. Cover the braid and let it rest for another 15 minutes.
- 16. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat).
- 17. Brush the braid with 1 tablespoon of milk.
- 18. Bake the braid in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
- 19. Let the yeast braid cool down slightly.
- 20. Serve the braid lukewarm or cold.
