🍽️ Classic Potato Casserole with Ham

Ingredients
- potatoes, mainly waxy 1 kg
- onions, yellow 1 pc
- boiled ham 200 g
- oil 2 tbsp
- whipping cream 200 ml
- milk 150 ml
- eggs 3 pc
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- thyme, crushed pinch
- Gouda, grated 150 g
- parsley, fresh 20 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (convection). Peel the potatoes, wash them thoroughly and slice or grate them thinly. Halve the onions, peel them and chop finely. Cut the boiled ham into cubes.
- 2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan over high heat and sweat the onions for about 2 minutes. In a bowl, whisk the cream with milk and eggs and season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and thyme.
- 3. Grease a baking dish with 1 tbsp of oil and layer the potatoes together with the ham and onions. Pour the egg-cream mixture evenly over the top, sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven for about 45–50 minutes until golden brown.
- 4. Wash the parsley, shake it dry, pluck the leaves from the stems and chop finely. Remove the potato casserole from the oven, sprinkle with the chopped parsley and serve. Enjoy your meal!
