Ingredients
- beef rump steaks 400 g
- gyro spice pinch
- salt pinch
- tomato paste 1 tbsp
- oil 4 tbsp
- red cabbage, fresh 0.25 pc.
- sugar pinch
- salad cucumbers 0.25 pc.
- vine tomatoes 2 pc.
- onions, red 1 pc.
- iceberg lettuce 100 g
- feta 100 g
- parsley, fresh 20 g
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- organic limes 1 pc.
- flatbread 1 pc.
- yogurt, plain 200 g
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the sirloin steaks under running water and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Cut the steaks into thin strips.
- 3. Mix the gyro seasoning, salt, tomato paste, and 2 tablespoons of oil in a bowl.
- 4. Place the meat strips in the marinade and toss them until they are well coated.
- 5. Quarter the red cabbage and remove the hard core.
- 6. Remove the outer leaves and slice the rest into thin strips.
- 7. Place the red cabbage strips in a bowl.
- 8. Sprinkle them with salt and sugar.
- 9. Knead the ingredients vigorously with your hands.
- 10. Set the bowl aside to let the cabbage marinate.
- 11. Rinse the cucumber and the tomato.
- 12. Cut both into small cubes.
- 13. Halve the onion and peel it.
- 14. Slice the onion into thin strips.
- 15. Cut the iceberg lettuce into coarse strips.
- 16. Rinse the lettuce strips.
- 17. Crumble the feta cheese into small pieces with your hands.
- 18. Wash the parsley and shake off excess water.
- 19. Pick the leaves off the stems.
- 20. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
- 21. Peel the garlic.
- 22. Mince the garlic finely.
- 23. Halve the lime.
- 24. Squeeze the juice from the lime.
- 25. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-assisted.
- 26. Place the flatbread in the oven.
- 27. Bake it for about 5 minutes until it is crispy.
- 28. Put the yogurt into a separate bowl.
- 29. Mix the yogurt with the chopped parsley and garlic.
- 30. Add some lime juice.
- 31. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
- 32. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan over high heat.
- 33. Add the meat along with the marinade to the hot pan.
- 34. Fry the meat for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
- 35. Remove the pan from the heat.
- 36. Let the meat rest for a short moment.
- 37. Cut the flatbread into quarters.
- 38. Slice the quarters open, but not all the way through.
- 39. Spread the yogurt sauce onto the bread.
- 40. Fill the bread with the prepared ingredients as desired.
- 41. Drizzle the finished doner with a little more yogurt sauce.
- 42. Serve the classic doner immediately.
