  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (convection). Wash the lemon, halve it, and squeeze out the juice. Peel the apples, cut them into quarters, remove the core, and slice them into thin wedges. Place the apple pieces in a bowl with about 500 ml water and some lemon juice to the side.
  2. 2. In a bowl, beat the soft butter with a hand mixer and whisk until frothy. Then mix in 200 g sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt. Stir in the eggs one by one. Add the flour, baking powder, and milk alternately, and mix everything into a smooth batter.
  3. 3. Spread the batter evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover it densely with the apple wedges and bake it for about 15 minutes.
  4. 4. Clean the bowl and whisk the sour cream with the remaining eggs, sugar, and cinnamon. Pour the mixture evenly over the cake and bake it for about 25 minutes, until golden brown. Let the classic apple cake cool and serve it dusted with powdered sugar. Enjoy your meal!
