  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
  2. 2. Slice the baguette into even slices.
  3. 3. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  4. 4. Place the bread slices on the prepared tray.
  5. 5. Brush the slices generously with olive oil.
  6. 6. Bake the bread until crispy for about 10 minutes.
  7. 7. Wash the cherry tomatoes under running water.
  8. 8. Cut the tomatoes into small quarters.
  9. 9. Halve the shallot and peel it.
  10. 10. Dice the shallot into very small pieces.
  11. 11. Wash the fresh basil.
  12. 12. Shake the greens dry.
  13. 13. Pluck the basil leaves off the stems.
  14. 14. Chop the leaves coarsely.
  15. 15. Take the loaded bread slices out of the oven.
  16. 16. Put the tomatoes, shallot, and basil into a bowl.
  17. 17. Add the balsamic vinegar to the bowl.
  18. 18. Add two tablespoons of olive oil to the bowl.
