🍽️ Classic Béchamel Sauce

Ingredients
- butter 5 tbsp
- wheat flour, Type 405 50 g
- milk 500 ml
- bay leaves, dried 1 pc.
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
Instructions
- 1. Heat a pot over medium heat.
- 2. Add the butter to the pot and let it melt.
- 3. Add the flour to the melted butter.
- 4. Stir the mixture for about 2 minutes until the flour lightly sweats.
- 5. Deglaze the mixture slowly with cold milk.
- 6. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- 7. Add a bay leaf to the sauce.
- 8. Simmer the sauce over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- 9. Check the consistency until the sauce is slightly thick.
- 10. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg.
- 11. Remove the bay leaf and serve the béchamel sauce.
