Ingredients
- potatoes, mainly waxy 1 kg
- butter 1 tsp
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- whipping cream 200 ml
- milk 150 ml
- Emmental grated 200 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
- 3. Peel the potatoes completely.
- 4. Slice the potatoes into very thin slices or use a grater.
- 5. Grease a large baking dish with some fat.
- 6. Peel one clove of garlic.
- 7. Rub the inside of the dish with the garlic clove.
- 8. Place the potato slices evenly into the dish.
- 9. Season the layers with salt.
- 10. Season the layers with pepper.
- 11. Season the layers with nutmeg.
- 12. Put cream and milk into a separate bowl.
- 13. Mix the cream and milk well together.
- 14. Season the liquid with salt.
- 15. Season the liquid with pepper.
- 16. Pour the cream-milk mixture over the potatoes.
- 17. Place the dish in the oven for about 20 minutes.
- 18. Take the dish out of the oven briefly after 20 minutes.
- 19. Sprinkle cheese over the potatoes.
- 20. Put the dish back in the oven for another 30 minutes.
- 21. Bake the gratin until it is golden brown.
- 22. Take the finished baking dish out of the oven.
- 23. Let the gratin cool down briefly.
- 24. Serve the dish warm.
