🍽️ Crispy Potato Cheese Balls with Zucchini Roast Flavor

Ingredients
- potatoes, mainly waxy 500 g
- salt pinch
- Gouda, grated 75 g
- crème fraîche 1 tbsp
- eggs 2 pcs
- pepper, black ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- zucchini 2 pcs
- olive oil 2 tbsp
- lemons 1 pc
- honey 1 tsp
- frying oil 500 ml
- breadcrumbs 60 g
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
- 2. Cut the peeled potatoes into small cubes.
- 3. Place the potato cubes in a pot with salted water.
- 4. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
- 5. Check if the potatoes are soft, then drain them.
- 6. Let the potatoes drain for a short moment.
- 7. Press the warm potatoes through a potato ricer.
- 8. Alternatively, you can mash the potatoes with a masher.
- 9. Place the pressed potatoes into a bowl.
- 10. Add the Gouda cheese to the potato mixture.
- 11. Add the crème fraîche to the bowl.
- 12. Crack an egg and add it to the mixture.
- 13. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg.
- 14. Mix all ingredients well together.
- 15. Let the potato cheese mixture cool down.
- 16. Wash the zucchini thoroughly.
- 17. Slice the zucchini lengthwise into thin slices.
- 18. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 19. Fry the zucchini slices for about 1 to 2 minutes.
- 20. Wash the lemon.
- 21. Cut the lemon in half.
- 22. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
- 23. Pour the lemon juice over the fried zucchini.
- 24. Add honey to the zucchini.
- 25. Season the zucchini with salt and pepper.
- 26. Let the zucchini cool down as well.
- 27. Whisk the remaining egg in a small bowl.
- 28. Heat frying oil in a wok or a deep pan.
- 29. Test the oil temperature by holding a wooden spoon in it.
- 30. The oil is ready when bubbles rise around the spoon.
- 31. Form balls from the potato mixture with a diameter of about 3 cm.
- 32. Roll the balls first in the whisked egg.
- 33. Then roll the balls in breadcrumbs.
- 34. Fry the balls in batches in the hot oil.
- 35. Fry the balls for approx. 2 minutes.
- 36. The balls should become crispy and golden brown.
- 37. Let the finished balls drain on kitchen paper.
- 38. Arrange the potato cheese balls on the zucchini strips.
- 39. Enjoy your meal!
