🍽️ Potato Gratin with Apple, Thyme and Blue Cheese

Ingredients
- Apples, red 2 pcs
- Potatoes, mostly waxy 1 kg
- Onions, red 2 pcs
- Butter 1 tbsp
- Salt 1 pinch
- Pepper, black ground 1 pinch
- Thyme, fresh 5 g
- Whipping cream 150 g
- Apple juice 75 ml
- Vegetable broth 75 ml
- Blue cheese 300 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
- 2. Thoroughly wash the apples and potatoes.
- 3. Peel the apples and potatoes.
- 4. Slice the apples and potatoes thinly.
- 5. Halve the onions.
- 6. Peel the onion halves.
- 7. Cut the onions into fine rings.
- 8. Grease a baking dish with butter.
- 9. Layer the apple and potato slices alternately in the dish.
- 10. Distribute the onion rings between the fruit and vegetable layers.
- 11. Season each layer lightly with salt.
- 12. Season each layer lightly with pepper.
- 13. Wash the thyme.
- 14. Shake the thyme dry.
- 15. Strip the thyme leaves from the stems.
- 16. Finely chop the thyme leaves.
- 17. Take a bowl.
- 18. Add the chopped thyme leaves to the bowl.
- 19. Add the cream to the bowl.
- 20. Add the apple juice to the bowl.
- 21. Add the vegetable broth to the bowl.
- 22. Add 2 to 3 pinches of salt to the bowl.
- 23. Add 2 to 3 pinches of pepper to the bowl.
- 24. Mix all ingredients in the bowl well.
- 25. Pour the liquid mixture over the layered gratin.
- 26. Place the gratin on the middle rack of the oven.
- 27. Bake the gratin for about 20 minutes.
- 28. Check if the gratin is golden brown.
- 29. Slice the blue cheese into thin pieces.
- 30. Place the cheese slices on top of the pre-baked gratin.
- 31. Place the gratin on the top rack of the oven.
- 32. Bake the gratin for another 10 minutes.
- 33. Check if the cheese has formed a golden crust.
- 34. Remove the finished gratin from the oven.
- 35. Plate the gratin.
- 36. Serve the dish.
