🍽️ Crispy Cheese Patties with Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Onions

Ingredients
- potatoes, starchy 1 kg
- salt pinch
- spring onions 1 pc.
- parsley, fresh 30 g
- minced meat, mixed 500 g
- pepper, black ground pinch
- marjoram, dried 0.5 tsp
- mustard 1 tsp
- breadcrumbs 3 tbsp
- eggs 1 pc.
- Gouda, grated 150 g
- oil 3 tbsp
- butter 4 tbsp
- milk 200 ml
- nutmeg, ground pinch
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.
- 2. Place the potato cubes in a pot and cover them with salted water.
- 3. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes covered for about 20 minutes.
- 4. Cut the onion in half and peel it.
- 5. Slice the onion into thin strips.
- 6. Wash the parsley and shake it dry.
- 7. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
- 8. Roughly chop the parsley leaves.
- 9. Place the ground meat in a large bowl.
- 10. Add salt, pepper, marjoram, mustard, breadcrumbs, egg, and gouda to the meat.
- 11. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
- 12. Shape the mixture into round patties about 5 cm in diameter.
- 13. Heat oil in a pan over high heat.
- 14. Fry the cheese patties for about 3 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
- 15. Add the sliced onions to the pan.
- 16. Sauté the onions for about 2 minutes.
- 17. Reduce the heat to low to medium.
- 18. Cover the pan and cook the patties and onions for another 12 minutes.
- 19. Drain the cooked potatoes using the lid.
- 20. Add butter and milk to the potatoes.
- 21. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth.
- 22. Stir the chopped parsley into the mashed potatoes.
- 23. Season the mashed potatoes with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 24. Serve the mashed potatoes on the plates.
- 25. Place the cheese patties and fried onions alongside.
