  1. 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.
  2. 2. Place the potato cubes in a pot and cover them with salted water.
  3. 3. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes covered for about 20 minutes.
  4. 4. Cut the onion in half and peel it.
  5. 5. Slice the onion into thin strips.
  6. 6. Wash the parsley and shake it dry.
  7. 7. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
  8. 8. Roughly chop the parsley leaves.
  9. 9. Place the ground meat in a large bowl.
  10. 10. Add salt, pepper, marjoram, mustard, breadcrumbs, egg, and gouda to the meat.
  11. 11. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  12. 12. Shape the mixture into round patties about 5 cm in diameter.
  13. 13. Heat oil in a pan over high heat.
  14. 14. Fry the cheese patties for about 3 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
  15. 15. Add the sliced onions to the pan.
  16. 16. Sauté the onions for about 2 minutes.
  17. 17. Reduce the heat to low to medium.
  18. 18. Cover the pan and cook the patties and onions for another 12 minutes.
  19. 19. Drain the cooked potatoes using the lid.
  20. 20. Add butter and milk to the potatoes.
  21. 21. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth.
  22. 22. Stir the chopped parsley into the mashed potatoes.
  23. 23. Season the mashed potatoes with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  24. 24. Serve the mashed potatoes on the plates.
  25. 25. Place the cheese patties and fried onions alongside.
