  1. 1. Ideally, thaw the cod overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. 2. Wash the zucchini thoroughly and cut off the ends.
  3. 3. Cut the zucchini into large cubes.
  4. 4. Wash the bell pepper and cut it into quarters.
  5. 5. Remove the stem and seeds from the bell pepper.
  6. 6. Cut the deseeded bell pepper into large cubes as well.
  7. 7. Halve the onion and remove the outer skin.
  8. 8. Slice the peeled onion into rings.
  9. 9. Peel the garlic and chop it finely.
  10. 10. Place the rice in a pot and cover it with 700 milliliters of salted water.
  11. 11. Bring the water with the rice to a boil.
  12. 12. Let the rice cook for about 15 minutes.
  13. 13. Heat oil in a second pot over high heat.
  14. 14. Sauté the onion rings together with the chopped garlic for about 1 minute.
  15. 15. Add the zucchini and bell pepper cubes to the pot.
  16. 16. Fry the vegetables for another 4 minutes.
  17. 17. Deglaze the pan with white wine.
  18. 18. Add the chopped tomatoes to the mixture.
  19. 19. Season the vegetables with salt, pepper, sugar, and thyme.
  20. 20. Let the vegetables simmer covered for about 15 minutes.
  21. 21. Rinse the thawed cod and shrimp under running water.
  22. 22. Pat the fish and shrimp pieces dry with a kitchen towel.
  23. 23. Cut the cod into bite-sized cubes.
  24. 24. Add the cod and shrimp to the pot after about 10 minutes of cooking time.
  25. 25. Let everything cook together until done.
  26. 26. Adjust the seasoning of the sauce if necessary.
  27. 27. Serve the cod and shrimp with the vegetables on top of the rice.
