  2. 2. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice.
  3. 3. Add the ginger, brown sugar, water, and lemon juice to a pot.
  4. 4. Heat the mixture on medium heat until it comes to a boil.
  5. 5. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
  6. 6. Let the syrup steep gently for about 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the ginger pieces.
  8. 8. Pour the hot syrup immediately into sterilized jars or bottles.
  9. 9. Seal the containers tightly right after filling.
  10. 10. Store the syrup in a cool, dark place until you are ready to use it.
