🍽️ Indian Lentil Dish with Chicken

Ingredients
- onions, yellow 1 pc.
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- chicken breast fillets 600 g
- oil 3 tbsp
- lentils, red 300 g
- curry powder 1 tsp
- vegetable broth 800 ml
- tomatoes, pureed 200 g
- basmati rice 300 g
- salt pinch
- cilantro, fresh 10 g
- lemons 1 pc.
- chili, ground pinch
- yogurt, plain 4 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Halve the onion and peel it. Dice the onion finely. Peel the garlic and chop it finely as well. Wash the chicken meat and pat it dry with a kitchen towel. Cut the meat into approx. 2 cm cubes. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pot over medium heat. Fry the chicken cubes on all sides for approx. 4 minutes. Remove the meat from the pot and place it on a plate.
- 2. Heat another 1 tablespoon of oil in the same pot. Fry the diced onion and chopped garlic in it for approx. 2 minutes until they are colorless. Add the lentils and the curry powder and fry everything for approx. 1 minute. Pour in the broth and the pureed tomatoes. Let the mixture simmer for approx. 20 minutes until the lentils are soft.
- 3. Bring the rice in a separate pot to a boil with approx. 700 ml of salted water. Cook the rice until soft for approx. 12 minutes.
- 4. Wash the coriander leaves and shake them dry. Chop the leaves finely. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice. Return the chicken meat to the lentil pot for the last 5 minutes. Season the dal with salt, chili, and lemon juice to taste. Plate the rice and the lentil dish. Serve the dish topped with yogurt and fresh coriander.
