  1. 1. Open the can of chickpeas and drain the liquid.
  2. 2. Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly under cold water in a sieve.
  3. 3. Shake the sieve slightly to let the water drain off.
  4. 4. Put the sesame seeds without oil into a dry pan.
  5. 5. Roast the sesame seeds over medium heat for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Remove the pan from the heat and set the roasted sesame seeds aside.
  7. 7. Peel the garlic clove and chop it very finely.
  8. 8. Cut a lemon into two halves.
  9. 9. Squeeze the juice from one of the lemon halves.
  10. 10. Place the drained chickpeas into a tall blending cup.
  11. 11. Add the lemon juice and the chopped garlic.
  12. 12. Add half of the roasted sesame seeds to the cup.
  13. 13. Add the cumin to the cup.
  14. 14. Blend the ingredients very thoroughly with a mixer.
  15. 15. Check the consistency of the mixture.
  16. 16. If the mixture is too thick, add a little cold water.
  17. 17. Blend further until the desired creaminess is reached.
  18. 18. Season the hummus to taste with salt.
  19. 19. Place the finished hummus onto a plate.
  20. 20. Spread the hummus evenly on the plate.
  21. 21. Drizzle some olive oil over the hummus.
  22. 22. Sprinkle the remaining roasted sesame seeds on top.
  23. 23. Serve the hummus directly or with a side dish.
