  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the blueberries under running water.
  2. 2. Remove any unripe berries or leaves.
  3. 3. Peel the apples completely.
  4. 4. Cut the apples into four equal quarters.
  5. 5. Remove the core from each apple piece.
  6. 6. Cut the apple pieces into small cubes.
  7. 7. Place the blueberries and apple cubes into a pot.
  8. 8. Add a cinnamon stick to the pot.
  9. 9. Add the sugar to the pot.
  10. 10. Pour some water into the pot.
  11. 11. Heat the pot until the mixture comes to a boil.
  12. 12. Reduce the heat to the medium setting.
  13. 13. Cover the pot with a lid.
  14. 14. Let the fruits simmer for about 5 minutes.
  15. 15. Take the cinnamon stick out of the pot.
  16. 16. Roughly puree the fruits with a spoon or immersion blender.
  17. 17. Take a small bowl.
  18. 18. Put the starch into the bowl.
  19. 19. Pour some cold water over the starch.
  20. 20. Stir the mixture until smooth, with no lumps left.
  21. 21. Pour the starch-water mixture into the pot with the fruits.
  22. 22. Stir well to distribute the starch.
  23. 23. Let the mixture simmer lightly for another 3 minutes.
  24. 24. Taste the blueberry compote.
  25. 25. Serve the compote lukewarm or cold.
