  1. 1. Separate the egg. Use the egg white for another recipe.
  2. 2. Beat the butter in a bowl until soft.
  3. 3. Add powdered sugar, salt, the egg yolk, the ground nuts, and the flour to the butter.
  4. 4. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  5. 5. Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  6. 6. Sprinkle some flour on your work surface.
  7. 7. Roll out the dough in portions on a floured surface to a thickness of about 5 millimeters.
  8. 8. Cut the dough into strips of approx. 2.5 x 6 cm.
  9. 9. Place the strips on baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  10. 10. Place the baking sheets in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  11. 11. Preheat the oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat.
  12. 12. Slide the baking sheets into the oven one after the other.
  13. 13. Bake the hazelnut strips for about 15 to 17 minutes until they are light brown and crispy.
  14. 14. Let the strips cool down completely.
  15. 15. Bring about 500 ml of water to a boil in a pot.
  16. 16. Chop the hazelnuts coarsely.
  17. 17. Chop the chocolate.
  18. 18. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over the hot water bath.
  19. 19. Dip each hazelnut strip halfway into the melted chocolate.
  20. 20. Let the chocolate drip off well.
  21. 21. Sprinkle the chocolate strips with the chopped nuts.
  22. 22. Let the strips dry on baking paper.
