🍽️ Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice

Ingredients
- red bell pepper 1 pc
- broccoli 1 pc
- carrots 2 pc
- snow peas 100 g
- chicken breast fillets 600 g
- paprika 1 tsp
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- basmati rice 300 g
- pineapple pieces from the can 200 g
- soy sauce 2 tbsp
- tomato paste 1 tbsp
- sugar 1 tbsp
- vinegar 2 tbsp
- cornstarch 2 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly.
- 2. Halve the bell peppers and remove the stem and seeds.
- 3. Cut the bell peppers into thin strips.
- 4. Wash the broccoli and remove the tough stem.
- 5. Peel the carrots and trim the ends.
- 6. Halve the carrots lengthwise and slice them thinly.
- 7. Wash the snow peas and halve them.
- 8. Place all the prepared vegetables into the deep steaming insert.
- 9. Wash the chicken and pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
- 10. Cut the chicken into cubes of about two centimeters.
- 11. Place the chicken cubes into a bowl.
- 12. Season the chicken cubes with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- 13. Place a sheet of baking paper into the shallow steaming insert.
- 14. Distribute the seasoned chicken cubes evenly on the baking paper.
- 15. Add one teaspoon of salt to the mixing container.
- 16. Place the rice into the cooking insert.
- 17. Hang the cooking insert into the appliance.
- 18. Fill 1.5 liters of hot water into the mixing container.
- 19. Place the steaming inserts onto the appliance.
- 20. Close the appliance securely.
- 21. Steam the dish for 20 minutes on the steam cooking setting.
- 22. Drain the pineapple and catch the liquid in a container.
- 23. Remove the steaming inserts from the appliance and keep them warm.
- 24. Remove the cooking insert with the rice.
- 25. Empty the mixing container and catch 200 milliliters of the cooking liquid.
- 26. Add the collected cooking liquid, 200 grams of pineapple juice, soy sauce, tomato paste, sugar, and vinegar to the mixing container.
- 27. Simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes at 100 degrees on level 2.
- 28. Mix cornstarch with a little cold water in a small bowl.
- 29. Slowly pour the starch-water mixture through the lid opening into the boiling sauce.
- 30. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- 31. Place the cooked vegetables, chicken, and pineapple chunks into a large bowl.
- 32. Mix everything thoroughly with the sauce.
- 33. Serve the dish together with the rice.
