🥗 Gyros Pita with Tzatziki and Fresh Salad

Ingredients
- cucumbers 1 pc.
- salt pinch
- vine tomatoes 2 pc.
- mini romaine lettuce 1 pc.
- onions, yellow 1 pc.
- ham cutlet from the top round of pork 600 g
- parsley, fresh 10 g
- chives, fresh 10 g
- oil 3 tbsp
- pepper, black ground pinch
- paprika, sweet 1 tsp
- quark 40 % fat in trace 250 g
- vinegar 1 tbsp
- sugar pinch
- lemons 1 pc.
- pita bread 4 pc.
Instructions
- 1. Wash the cucumber thoroughly and cut it in half.
- 2. Grate one half of the cucumber coarsely and sprinkle it lightly with salt.
- 3. Place the grated cucumber in a bowl and set it aside.
- 4. Cut the second cucumber half lengthwise into thin slices.
- 5. Wash the tomatoes and cut them in half.
- 6. Remove the hard stem core from the tomatoes.
- 7. Slice the tomatoes.
- 8. Cut the lettuce into thin strips.
- 9. Rinse the lettuce strips.
- 10. Dry the lettuce in a salad spinner.
- 11. Cut the onion in half.
- 12. Peel the onion.
- 13. Slice the onion into thin strips.
- 14. Rinse the meat schnitzel under running water.
- 15. Pat the meat dry with a kitchen towel.
- 16. Slice the meat into thin strips.
- 17. Wash the herbs under running water.
- 18. Remove the thick stems from the herbs.
- 19. Finely chop the herbs.
- 20. Place the meat in a bowl.
- 21. Add the onion strips to the meat.
- 22. Add some oil.
- 23. Season with salt.
- 24. Season with pepper.
- 25. Add paprika powder.
- 26. Mix everything well so the meat marinates.
- 27. Gently squeeze the grated cucumber with your hands.
- 28. Drain off the water released from the cucumber.
- 29. Add the quark to the cucumber.
- 30. Add the chopped herbs to the quark mixture.
- 31. Stir the tzatziki ingredients well.
- 32. Season the tzatziki with salt.
- 33. Season the tzatziki with pepper.
- 34. Place one tablespoon of oil in a small bowl.
- 35. Add vinegar to the oil.
- 36. Whisk the oil and vinegar vigorously.
- 37. Season the dressing with salt.
- 38. Season the dressing with pepper.
- 39. Season the dressing with sugar.
- 40. Place the cucumber slices in a bowl.
- 41. Take two-thirds of the prepared lettuce.
- 42. Add the lettuce to the cucumber slices.
- 43. Take two-thirds of the tomato slices.
- 44. Add the tomato slices to the cucumber and lettuce mixture.
- 45. Pour the dressing over the salad.
- 46. Toss the salad gently with the dressing.
- 47. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan.
- 48. Set the heat to high.
- 49. Place the marinated meat in the hot pan.
- 50. Add the onion strips to the pan.
- 51. Sear the meat and onions for about four minutes.
- 52. Cut a lemon in half.
- 53. Squeeze the juice of one lemon half over the meat.
- 54. Place the pita breads in the toaster.
- 55. Warm the pita breads as desired.
- 56. Spread the tzatziki cream onto the pita breads.
- 57. Fill the pita breads with the gyros meat.
- 58. Add some fresh romaine lettuce to the pita breads.
- 59. Place tomato slices on the lettuce in the pita breads.
- 60. Plate the filled pita breads.
- 61. Serve the remaining salad as a side dish.
