🍽️ Gyros with Tomato Rice and Tzatziki

Ingredients
- Pork neck steaks 600 g
- Onions, red 2 pcs.
- Garlic cloves 1 pcs.
- Vine tomatoes 2 pcs.
- Cucumbers 0.5 pcs.
- Salt pinch
- Lemons 1 pcs.
- Oil 3 tbsp
- Tomato paste 2 tbsp
- Long grain rice 300 g
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Rose pepper pinch
- Cumin pinch
- Thyme, dried pinch
- Oregano, dried pinch
- Sour cream Greek style 150 g
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the meat under running water and pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Cut the meat into thin strips.
- 3. Halve the onions and remove the outer skin.
- 4. Dice one of the onions into small cubes.
- 5. Slice the other onion into thick rings.
- 6. Peel the garlic and chop it finely.
- 7. Wash the tomatoes and cut them into cubes as well.
- 8. Wash the cucumber and cut it in half lengthwise.
- 9. Remove the seeds from the cucumber.
- 10. Grate the cucumber coarsely.
- 11. Place the grated cucumber in a bowl and sprinkle it with some salt.
- 12. Let the cucumber sit for about 10 minutes to release liquid.
- 13. Wash the lemon and cut it in half.
- 14. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
- 15. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pot over high heat.
- 16. Fry the diced onion and tomatoes for about 2 minutes.
- 17. Stir in the tomato paste and roast it for about 1 minute.
- 18. Add the rice to the pot and stir it in.
- 19. Deglaze everything with about 700 milliliters of salted water.
- 20. Simmer the rice covered for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 21. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan over high heat.
- 22. Fry the meat for about 2 minutes.
- 23. Season the meat with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, thyme, and oregano.
- 24. Add the onion rings and half of the chopped garlic to the pan.
- 25. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of lemon juice over it.
- 26. Finish cooking the meat over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- 27. Squeeze the cucumber lightly with your hands to remove the liquid.
- 28. Pour off the released juice.
- 29. Mix the cucumber in the bowl with Greek yogurt and the remaining garlic.
- 30. Season the tzatziki with lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
- 31. Plate the tzatziki together with the gyros and tomato rice.
- 32. Serve the dish and enjoy your meal!
